instadose™ radiation monitoring is a service that includes the use of a small, rugged USB dosimeter based on patented direct ion storage technology. The customer pays an annual fee for use of the dosimeter and AMP online monitoring service.

instadose uses breakthrough technology that provides radiation workers with a precise measurement of radiation dose and includes accurate long-term exposure tracking. A built-in memory chip stores each user's identity via an embedded unique serial code that is assigned to the user.

Now users have the flexibility to view their radiation dose at any time from any computer with internet access. Readings via a PC are enabled by a USB compatible detector. Once a user receives instadose they must first register at: www.instadose.com. During the registration process the instadose driver and client are installed on the users’ computer and the device is initialized for use.

When a user wishes to obtain a reading they simply log-in to their account, plug-in instadose to a USB port and click Read Device. The accumulated dose stored on instadose is processed through a proprietary algorithm. This fully automated transfer of data minimizes the chance of human error and misidentification. Once complete a graphical representation of the current dose will load on the screen.

A variety of reports are available for download through the online AMP (Account Management Program). The reports include:

bulletRadiation Exposure Summary Report
bulletHistory Detail Report
bulletWho Has Not Read Their Device
bulletForm 5 (USA only)

How to Wear an Instadose™ Dosimeter
The following wear and care guidelines are recommended to ensure accurate dose readings.

Wear:
Instadose™ dosimeters should be worn on the front of the torso. They are commonly clipped to clothing at waist or chest level.

Care:
bulletDo not store instadose™ dosimeters next to radiation sources.
bulletDevices should not be worn outside the workplace, or during personal medical procedures.
bulletCompanies that collect all dosimeters at the end of each shift and store them in a central location away from a radiation source can avoid having to replace dosimeters which are accidentally lost.

instadose™ Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Create an Account Within AMP?

If you purchased the instadose™ devices you will use the username and password you created during the purchase process.

How Do I Assign an Instadose™ device to a User?

The instadose™ reader software will be downloaded during the registration process. Each device must be activated by completing the four step registration process during which devices can be assigned to users. Users are assigned a username and temporary password. Users will be prompted to change the password the first time logging into AMP.

Can Someone Else Obtain a Reading from My Device?

No, each device has a unique serial number embedded into the device. Once the device is registered to an individual, that device is associated with that wearer. To obtain a dose reading from the device you must login to AMP (Account Management Program). Unless you have the username and password associated with that device you will not have access.

How Long Can I Keep an Instadose™ Device?

Unlike other x-ray badges on the market that need to be returned for processing to obtain dose levels, the technology behind instadose™ allows users to perform their own dose reading via the internet eliminating the need to return the device for processing.

Do I Need a Control Dosimeter?

No, a control badge is used to subtract background radiation exposure during transit and while the badge is stored at the customer's facility. This exposure is accounted for and removed through the proprietary algorithm.

What If I Forget My Password?

Simply follow the Reset your password form and a temporary password will be sent to you.

How Often Should I Read My Instadose™?

As part of a good "As Low As Reasonably Achievable" (ALARA) program, it is recommended devices be read once a week. Using the principles of ALARA means doing everything you can to minimize the affects of radiation to yourself and your patients.

How Do I Know My Device Is Working?

Every time the device is plugged into the USB port a self diagnostic is run on the device and any errors that are detected will be reported to the user.

Do I need to install any special hardware?

No, but your computer must have a free USB port.
